10 week course

Week 1/2 Vocal Technique & Ensemble songs

Be  introduced to the technique that you shall slowly learn each week – based on the 8 notes in a scale and how the voice builds on this – to increase register awareness, tone quality, strength, projection,  and vocal flexibility – you will learn how to understand your voice box, the larynx positions and how the vocal chords vibrate in relaition to breath control with the diaphgragm  Each new excercise is introduced – and you will also be able to download a 20 min warm up mp3 that covers all 8 Scales!

Two contrasting ensemble songs are introduced with simple harmony and some movement – this is a great ice breaker – and these numbers are developed each week – bringing a sense of fun community spirit to the group.

Week 3/4 The Duet

Having already got to know the group you will now be allocated  a partner – for duet work.  It gives you a chance to hear your own voice solo – and learn simple harmonies with your partner.  A great way of communication through the singing is enhanced.

Week 5 The Solo

One chooses there dream number…or you are guided for your voice type. As Thoreau says…”a man goes to his grave with a song still in him” .

Week 6 – 10 Practice, Rehearse, Perform

Like rehearsing for a production! the rest of the course becomes a structured process where you build on your ensemble, solo and duet work …And very soon after this you meet all the other group members on other courses – for the final end of course show!

  THE PERFORMANCE

By learning to project you voice and sing from the heart, in front of an audience (friends and family!) you will find the real beauty of your song and discover a rewarding energy found only in a live performance that can have great holistic and life enhancing affects…Regular performances are held at a small studio theatre when other course members all meet.  The show is lit,  with simple effective  staging, a  huge dose of fun, a bundle of adrenalin and not forgetting my  favourite word, madness…one can be that character, be a queen of pop, a cabaret star, a Big Band crooner,  an Operatic tenor…their are no limits.
